Our Out of School Hours Care Environment (OSHC)

OSHC Our Out of School Hours Care Environment (OSHC)

The Out of School Hours Care (OSHC) program at Montessori Stepping Stones™ (MSS) consists of before school care, after school care and the vacation care program.

The program aims to ensure that children in school age care have opportunities to engage in leisure and play-based experiences which are responsive to the needs, interests, and choices of the children attending our service and contribute fully to their ongoing development.

The Framework for School Age Care builds on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and extends the principles, practice and outcomes to accommodate the contexts and age range of the children and young people who attend school age care settings.
The 'My Time, Our Place' - Framework for School Age Care in Australia is incorporated in the National Quality Standard in order to ensure delivery of nationally consistent and quality school age care.

For before school care, which is from 7am to 8:30am there is a capacity of 15 children. For after school care there is a capacity of 20 school aged children; to the age of 14.

OSHC is provided every day except on public holidays or when school announce pupil free days.

The educators plan together with the children a curriculum towards their needs and interests, which is observed, discussed and reflected on to provide a program that remains supportive of their interested and needs. The program will reflect the regularity of attendance of children.

The program is displayed  and parents and families are welcomed to provide further input into the program planning  as well as participate in any cultural or communal event. Where requested we may be able to assist children with their homework - we also wish to remind parent and families that children may also need some time relax , do some casual and physical activities outdoors, play soma games, construct with manipulative as well socialise and communicate with each other.

Vacation care is provided during school holidays and on pupil free days where announced. Our vacation care program has a capacity of currently 15 children as scheduled to increase to 20.
A vacation care program is advertised to the before and after school families first before offering vacancies to external parents and families.

The program for vacation care is tailored around gathered information from calendar events, community events, the current season and gathered information from attending children.
